In January 2023, the Village Travel Network published its "Active Travel Plan."  You can read it here

In September 2023, Oxfordshire County Council committed to developing the Active Travel Plan into a Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) to be called the Woodstock Area LCWIP.

The Village Travel Network has now submitted its response to OCC's initial audit and site visits and that response is published here.

We anticipate that the Woodstock Area LCWIP will go to the Council's cabinet in Spring 2024 for formal approval.

In April 2023 Blenheim Palace opened its new Community Path between Bladon and Hanborough Rail Station.  It is open during daylight hours to walkers and cyclists.  Read more ......

Even before the Village Travel Network had set up shop, finding a suitable "Cycle Route to School" for students from Combe and Stonesfield to the Marlborough School in Woodstock was a challenge.  Stonesfield and Combe parishes, working with the Marlborough School and BLenheim Palace provided an inspiring solution.  Read more .....

The Village Travel Network is looking for one or more "quick win" demonstration projects to kick start our campaign for better and safer active travel connectivity between and within our communities.  Read more ....

The Village Travel Network's Objectives are:-

  1. To deliver environmental, low carbon, safety, health and social benefits that demonstrate best practice across the village network and protect nature and habitats.

  2. 20 mph speed limits in all residential and shopping areas where pedestrians and cyclists mix. Routes to Hanborough Station to be prioritised  

  3. Key inter-village routes to be declared with priority given to pedestrians and cyclists

  4.  Key east west connections to be facilitated with new restricted and conditional routes through Blenheim Park.

  5. Where inter-village routes cannot easily be prioritised for cyclists and pedestrians, off-road routes to be investigated for upgrading for cycles, with minimal disturbance to the rural landscape or to the peaceful enjoyment of walkers.
